Natasha Dobreva

Natasha Dobreva is a practicing lawyer, human rights advocate, and expert in combating human trafficking. She has extensive experience representing victims of trafficking before Bulgarian courts and advocating for applicants before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg, where she has successfully resolved 14 cases. Among her notable achievements in the fight against trafficking are the cases of S.Z. v. Bulgaria and Krachunova v. Bulgaria.

In her practice, Natasha actively defends trafficking victims in criminal proceedings, where they participate as private prosecutors or civil claimants. She is currently handling a high-profile case seeking compensation for damages caused by an organized crime group involved in sexual exploitation, led by a former mayor of the village of Tazha.

As a legal advisor to the Bulgarian Fund for Women, she prepared an alternative report on Bulgaria’s implementation of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, which was presented to the UN Committee during its 75th session. Representing the fund, Natasha has also been accepted as an observer at the meetings of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.

Natasha is a member of the Council of Europe Network of Lawyers Specialized in Human Trafficking Cases. In 2018, she was selected for the list of lawyers representing victims before the Specialized Chambers in Kosovo, which address crimes against humanity, war crimes, and other offenses under Kosovo law during the period 1998-2001.

Attorney Natasha Dobreva has been a member of the Sofia Bar Association since 2007. She holds a Master’s degree in International Human Rights Law and Law of the European Convention on Human Rights from Lund University in Sweden.
